The most relevant week on the agenda of electronic music is approaching: Ibiza’s Openings. It is the beginning of the summer season with the opening of the top nightclubs of the white island.

With such unique names as Richie Hawtin, Paul Kalkbrenner or Adam Beyer. They will star in the most incredible parties that will be concentrated in the week of May 17 to 24. This year Ushuaïa and will join in a 24h party, the Odyssey Grand Opening; DC-10 will kick off with Circoloco and Bora Bora will hold a 3-day marathon.

For many years now thousands of people have landed in Ibiza to live this week of pure celebration, but the island is changing.

What’s new for 2019 season?

1.More day parties

Since 2016, the number of daytime parties in Ibiza has increased significantly and is changing the leisure paradigm of the island. Ten years ago, nightclubs such as Ushuaïa, Destino and Ocean Beach didn’t exist, while Cova Santa and Ibiza Rocks Hotel were not being used as electronic music venues. These day parties are in full growth and some of the referents of the island are already focusing their business on it. A clear example is Odyssey Grand Opening, an event that combines the day party of Ushuaïa with the night party of Hï.

2. Increase in security

With the approval of Ordinance 13/02/2017 of the City Council of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, which regulates the maximum capacity of activities and their control systems, security in Ibiza has changed a lot. In this municipality it is mandatory to have automatic people counters for those tourist entertainment activities with a capacity of more than 200 people. That is why the reference clubs of the island already have a specific crowd control solution.

3. More premium tourists

This is a trend that has been materializing for a few years, but that in 2019 will be even clearer: The profile of tourists visiting the white island has changed. Now it is more premium, it has less sensitivity to the price and they want to live an unforgettable experience. Those who attend the Openings are willing to pay large amounts of money to a local entertainment that offers a differentiated show. That is why nightclubs are investing in technology and performing arts to make the most of every minute the client spends in their venue.
