According to ICCA, Barcelona has been in the worldwide top 5 cities in the organization of trade shows and congresses for more than 7 years, being the city with the most events in 2017.

Why choose Barcelona?

The city of Barcelona offers thousands of possibilities and is perfectly prepared to host large events thanks to the facilities and hotel offer. It is also very well connected by land, sea and air, so it facilitates the transfers of international congressmen.

In this vocation of internationalization, last January the City Council launched the new brand Always Barcelona, positioning the city as a model of progress through a unique story and highlighting its strengths: connection, initiative, soul, stimulating contrasts, talent and commitment.

Security: key in the city of Barcelona

More and more festivals and entertainment venues are betting on an automatic capacity control system, although it is not mandatory by law. Legislation about capacity control is not state-wide but autonomous. In Catalonia, the capacity control is regulated by the decree 112/2010, of August 31th, by means of which the Regulation of public spectacles and recreational activities is approved. However, in the general regulation that regulates the aforementioned law there is a transitory provision that states that “The establishments that have the obligation to have an automatic gauging control system have a term of 3 years, starting from the publication of the regulation of this system, to install it and put it into operation“.

But Barcelona is very clear that safety is the number one priority in terms of organizing events and therefore advances to current legislation and requires an automatic system in many of the events held in its facilities.

In Counterest, as leaders in capacity control for events in Spain, we are witnessing the increase of regulation throughout the Spanish territory and the anticipation of the City of Barcelona to the implementation of this. Last month we were controlling the capacity of the Primavera Sound festival and we can say that thanks to the joint work with its security team, it was a success!

Have you already included automatic crowd control in the organization of your event? 🙂
